The city is accepting names for the Youth Grove Memorial in Central Park dedicated to honoring local youth who have died in traffic-related incidents.

The Youth Grove is a half-acre memorial with 82 pillars, each representing victims 24 years old or younger who have died in traffic accidents.

"The Youth Grove is an important component of the city's efforts to remember our youth, educate the community about safe driving and offer a place for reflection," said councilman Frank Ferry.

To nominate a youth's name for inclusion in the annual Evening of Remembrance at Central Park on Sept. 29, applicants must complete a release form signed by a parent and submit it by July 27.

The release form is can be found at santa-clarita.com/blueribbon or by calling 661-250-3708.
