Nearly 600 tipsy drivers across the county - some in the Santa Clarita Valley - found themselves in handcuffs during the Memorial Day weekend, California Highway Patrol officials announced Thursday.
In the county, 590 were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol between midnight May 25 and midnight May 28, CHP Capt. Mike Parker said in a news release.
Eighteen of those arrests occurred in the Santa Clarita Valley, according to Sheriff's Department arrest records.
Additionally, nine others in the Santa Clarita Valley were arrested during the extended weekend on drug-related charges ranging from possession of marijuana for sale to possession of a controlled substance.
Last year, 593 people across the county were arrested for DUI during the Memorial Day weekend, Parker said.
At least 57 people were arrested in the Santa Clarita Valley during the holiday weekend, arrest records show.
