What: Stan Fix will present the Sunday morning meditation, "A Desperate Measure for Desperate People."
The second candle of the Advent Wreath, the Candle of Peace, will be lit. Holy Communion will be celebrated in a setting of carols.

What: A family musical, "I'll Be Home for Christmas."
Three generations find hope amid the uncertainty of war in this production filled with original music and classic songs of the season.
Free and open to the public.

A concert of Christmas cheer
Who: Valencia United Methodist Church
What: A concert full of festive and glorious music.
Choirs and musical groups of all ages will join together to present Christmas music to warm the heart and promote the Christmas spirit.
A volunteer offering will be collected to benefit local poverty relief efforts.
When: 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday

Gardell helps raise $6,000 for shelter
Comedian Billy Gardell helped raise $6,000 for the Santa Clarita Valley Emergency Winter Shelter Nov. 30, said Tim Davis, the shelter's executive director.
Christ Lutheran Church in Valencia hosted the event.
