Grief seminar will address holiday pain

Grace Baptist Church is offering a "Surviving the Holidays" gathering for people who are grieving during the holidays at 7 p.m., Wednesday in room 220.

"It's well known that the holidays are an especially difficult time for grieving people, especially that first year - empty seats around the holiday table are an unavoidable reminder of the loss, and family-oriented holidays can be really difficult after a death in the family," outreach pastor Mike Gaston said.

"This gathering is our way to recognize that for some people in our congregation and in our community," he said. "Christmas has a painful side and we want to bring them some comfort as well as some practical, Scriptural advice for moving forward."

The meeting is an extension of the church's GriefShare ministry, a year-round ongoing support group for people who have lost loved ones.

Colleen Sando leads a team of GriefShare facilitators who have all experienced the death of a loved one.

Grace Baptist Church is located at 22833 Copper Hill Drive in Saugus. The phone is (661) 296-8737.
