California Highway Patrol officers and Los Angeles County firefighters were responding to the scene of an overheated pickup truck towing a boat after someone opened the hood and was sprayed with hot radiator fluid Monday afternoon on northbound Interstate 5 in Castaic.

The truck, described as an older Ford F-150 pickup truck towing a boat, was reported on fire around 5:15 p.m. Monday about two miles north of Lake Hughes Road, according to CHP officials. Fire officials said they were responding to the call for medical aid only and the truck was not on fire.

Fire officials did not have the condition of the driver available as of 5:40 p.m.

The truck was blocking the two right lanes as of 5:46 p.m.

“It’s just heavy traffic,” said CHP Officer Matt Oakes.
