What About the Victim?

To The Editor:

It was really disheartening to read the article "Mother of convicted murderer speaks out" (Feb. 29, 2008).

People like Ms. Partlow, throughout these things, are forgetting who the REAL victim is, and think they have the right to speak out in court. Uh, no. The victim's family does. She has NO business speaking out in court.

A victim's family is not interested in hearing from the mother of the guy who killed their son/friend. Isn't it enough that the victims' families have to hear a statement from the killer?

An innocent person has been killed, and she is worried about how her son might not get treatment in jail. He is where he belongs and he can rot there because that's what he deserves for doing what he did. Having a mental disorder is not an excuse. Millions of people have mental disorders, including what he was dealing with, and they don't go out killing people.

Next time you should consider an interview with the family of the REAL victim.
