Two former Foothill League softballers secured spots in next week’s Women’s College World Series on Saturday afternoon.
Hart graduate Jessica Shults and Canyon graduate Brittany Williams are both members of the University of Oklahoma softball team that defeated Arizona 7-1 on Saturday to advance to the World Series in Oklahoma City.
The Sooners had defeated Arizona on Friday to take a 1-0 series lead in the best-of-three series.
Shults went 2-for-3 in the clinching game with a home run, scoring two runs and knocking in two RBIs.
Williams was 1-for-1 in a pinch-hit appearance.
Coincidently, the Sooners victory kept another former Foothill Player from advancing. Former Valencia player Jessica Spigner is on the Wildcats.
