Teen to compete for national title

Samantha Figueroa, 13, of Stevenson Ranch, captured the title 2012 Miss Junior Teen in the Miss California United States Pageant held May 11 at the Marjorie Luke Theater in Santa Barbara.

Figueroa represented Valencia in the pageant which offers titles in four divisions.

Other titleholders include: 2012 Miss California United States London Becs; Miss Teen California United States Brooklyn Bizzle and Ms. California United States Annie Kassamanian.

Figueroa is the daughter of Rafael Figueroa and Eniko Szarka-Figueroa, of Stevenson Ranch.

Figueroa lives with her parents, younger sister, grandmother and two dogs. 

She is in seventh grade at Rancho Pico Junior High, where she maintains an “A” average.

Figueroa has been a gymnast for the past seven years and has competed with her team throughout Southern California and Nevada. 

In addition, Figueroa has worked as an actress and a model and has appeared in several commercials and print ads.
Figueroa will participate in the Miss United States Pageant to be held in Washington, D.C., during the Fourth of July week, along with other festivities.
