A convenience store argument led to one man being shot and sent to the hospital.

Around 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, two men were arguing inside the 7-Eleven at 27588 Sierra Highway, near the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country, said Detective Pat O'Neill of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

Moments later, a third man, who was also inside and believed to be a part of the altercation, reportedly left the store and retrieved a gun from his vehicle. O'Neill said the man then approached and fired at one of the two men in the altercation.

The victim, who was hit in his right arm and right upper torso, was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. Officials said he was in stable condition Wednesday afternoon.

The gunman reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle and was last seen driving on Sierra Highway. Detectives are still searching for the shooter, described as a 38-year-old Hispanic man, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing approximately 190 pounds. No information was made available about the getaway vehicle.

The motive for the shooting was unknown, and there was no information on the third man involved.
Wednesday's shooting was the latest in a rash of gunplay in Canyon Country over the past six weeks.

In January, three men were accused of a drive-by shooting near Soledad Canyon Road and Whites Canyon Road.

Last month, there were three shootings involving deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station, including one at the same 7-Eleven on Feb. 22.
