Response to Kraut

In response to Jonathan Kraut (Voting youth shows maturity, Nov. 25), I am a conservative who did not necessarily vote for John McCain. Rather I voted against the Obama machine.

You can tout the so-called "logic, rational thinking and maturity of the youth" all you want, but in my numerous conversations with local and regional college-age sign-toting and generally rude Obama supporters, I found not one of them who could get beyond the "hope and change" mantra to provide anything of substance about the message of the man.

Of course, they were simply parroting his empty talking points and, when questioned about specifics, resorted to Palin-bashing and simply raising their voices as though deafness naturally accompanied my graying beard.

Like most adult supporters I encountered, not one of these young people could back up the worn-out charges of the "failed Bush policies" with any substantive explanation of just which policies had truly failed and exactly how.

Again, the Pelosi-generated hate mantra delivered at dangerous decibel levels was all anyone had to offer.

You have to hand it to the Obama machine. If you want to win an election especially in the swing states, go to the college campuses. They are replete with voting-age young people who have no clue about the gravity of a national election, much less the ramifications of supporting a ticket so blatantly socialist in its agenda.

Much of the high school curriculum no longer includes the lessons of actual world history unless it has been rewritten to support a modern agenda, so a majority of these students were ill-prepared to compare the ideologies of the two camps.

As for John McCain "sounding like a grade-school bully" for simply having the courage to tell the truth, I suppose you would also criticize Paul Revere's "the British are coming" cry as bigoted and racist and bullying.

It is my belief that by 2010, after only two years of a completely Democrat-controlled Washington and a litany of "failed Obama policies" that cannot even remotely be blamed on George W. Bush, even the most ardent Obama supporters will be ready for real change.

I can only hope the damage I think the man and his minions will have done will still be reversible.
