Letter: On legislators and college football

In response to “We should do away with term limits,” May 14: Mr. Gately — Really?

In what universe have our legislators learned how to do their jobs? Have you missed the huge deficits of our federal and state governments? These people go on term after term spending money we don’t have on programs we can do without.

Their main concern is re-election. If you take re-election out of the equation, perhaps they would be more concerned with doing what is best for their constituents, instead of what is best for themselves.

I read Danny Tyree’s tirade on abolishing college football (May 14) — I kept thinking it was tongue in cheek — but it seemed that he was serious. Then I got to the end of his column and found, appropriately, his column is distributed exclusively by Cagle Cartoons Inc.

Stick with what you know, Cagle Cartoons — messing with football is no joke.
