There were tense moments for some Castaic residents Monday when a man kept trying to "jump inside people's cars," a local sheriff's sergeant said.

At about 10:40 a.m., deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station were dispatched to Glacier Place in Castaic for reports of a man "running around" trying to get into people's cars, said Sgt. Rich Nagler.

The suspect ran from Glacier - a cul-de-sac - to the area of Villa Canyon Road and Rainier Road, where deputies finally caught up with him, Nagler said.

At 10:50 a.m., deputies found the man sitting in "someone else's car," Nagler said.

As the suspect was being handcuffed, the detained man reportedly lost consciousness.

The man, who is believed to have suffered some type of health problem before he lost consciousness, was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Nagler said.

No one was hurt and no property, including cars, was damaged, he said.
