A woman was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital after being struck by a white Mercedes SUV while crossing the street in Stevenson Ranch, shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday.
The pedestrian was attempting to cross Stevenson Ranch Parkway, toward Chase Avenue, when the collision occurred.
The pedestrian appeared to be in her 50s, according to a California Highway Patrol officer who responded to the scene. The extent of her injuries is unknown, however she was conscious while she was en route to the hospital, according to eyewitness accounts.
The officer said the driver claimed that the sun was in her eyes while she was making the turn. The officer said the position of the sun at the time of the collision corroborated the driver's story. The driver was allowed to leave the scene after she was questioned by officers.
The scene was cleared within a half-hour of the crash, according to CHP officials.
