LOS ANGELES (AP) - A suicidal man who drove recklessly on Pacific Coast Highway and killed a Malibu teenager has been convicted of second-degree murder.

Sina Khankhanian, who was convicted on Thursday, faces up to 16 years to life in prison when he is sentenced June 15.

Prosecutors said Khankhanian was despondent over losing his job when he drove his Mitsubishi Lancer on a wild 17-mile, high-speed ride through Topanga Canyon and up the coast through Malibu on April 3, 2010.

His car struck down and killed 13-year-old Emily Rose Shane, who was walking near Heathercliff Road in the Point Dume area.

It was Khankhanian's second trial. Another jury in January was unable to reach a verdict and a mistrial was declared.
