Foothill League softball champion West Ranch jumped to No. 15 in the state this week, according to ESPNHS.com’s Cal-Hi Top 20 list, released Wednesday.
West Ranch (21-4-1) is coming off a pair of league wins last week, beating Hart 7-6 on May 8 and Saugus 3-1 on May 10.
The wins helped the Wildcats easily secure their first Foothill title in school history after going 9-1 in league play.
It earned West Ranch a matchup against El Modena of Orange on Thursday in the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division I playoffs.
This is West Ranch’s second appearance on the Cal-Hi Top 20 this season, with the Wildcats ranked 18th two weeks ago.
Saugus, the Foothill’s second place finisher, has also climbed as high as 15th place on the list earlier in the season.
