There we were again, completely cut off from going south on the Interstate 5 and Highway 14 freeways and side roads due to a closure because of a fire. And who can forget the same scenario during the 1994 earthquake?

When can we get an alternate route in and out of our valley?

Would it not be feasible to pave another access road starting near Calgrove Boulevard and using Wiley or Towsley Canyons to go over Oat Mountain and connect up to either Tampa Avenue or Topanga Canyon Boulevard? From there you could go east or west on Highway 118 or south on Topanga all the way to the 101 freeway. In fact, that doesn't sound like a bad idea even if the 5 and 14 are not shut down.

With the amount of new construction being allowed in the Santa Clarita area, it is imperative we have more than one way in and out of our valley.

Any more suggestions, anyone?
