Officials investigate the scene of a two-car crash on Sierra Highway, about a quarter-mile south of Eternal Valley Memorial Park, around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

A traffic collision on Sierra Highway sent four people to the hospital, three of them in critical condition, late Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred shortly before 5 p.m., and both vehicles sustained front-end damage in an apparent head-on collision that occurred in front of the Eternal Valley Memorial Park cemetery, said Lt. Eric Lasko of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

At 4:53 p.m., deputies received a report of a car crashing into a pole on Sierra Highway, Lasko said.

About a minute later, paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched to the crash.

“We responded to what we were told was a traffic collision involving two vehicles,” said Fire Department Supervisor Ed Pickett.

One white pickup truck and a silver-colored compact car sustained front-end damage.

The car’s passenger seat air bag had been deployed.

“Three patients were transported to trauma units, all of them in critical condition,” Pickett said.

A fourth patient was also taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, he said.

The ages and genders of the crash victims had not been released.
