Commercial Real Estate firm CB Richard Ellis announced Wednesday that the Southern California Orthopedic Institute, one of the largest private orthopedic practices on the West Coast, will occupy 23,329 square feet at the Bridgeport Marketplace, a 170,000 square foot mixed-use development at the intersection of McBean Parkway and Newhall Ranch Road.

"We at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute are extremely excited about our move to the new Valencia Office next spring," said Todd Molnar M.D., managing partner of the Institute. "It is the first time we are setting up an office in a mixed-use center instead of directly on a hospital's campus. This should prove to be an optimal site for our patients to receive the highest level of orthopedic care in such a pleasant environment."

The local division currently operates out of an office in Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

"We're pretty much landlocked where we are," CEO Darrell Schryver said. "We made the decision a year and a half ago that we needed more space."

Schryver said the new grounds will provide for an expansion of physical therapy, MRI services for patients and the hiring of two additional physicians.

"We'll have seven physicians total," he said. "There will be physicians stationed all the time and some of the other specialist physicians will come in a day or two a week."

The institute will lease the entire second floor of the building on the southwest corner of Bridgeport Marketplace for 15 years.

The development companies, Intertex Companies and A&B Properties, are building out the interior improvements which include a high-image medical office that will incorporate views of the lake adjacent to the building and numerous balconies, according to information provided by CB Richard Ellis.

The practice is set to open March 1.
