Relatives of an 87-year-old woman missing from Canyon Country since early Sunday morning received some encouraging news Monday with details left by a credit card trail.

Gladys Loyd, who moved in with her niece in October, left the family home on Shadow Island Drive, near Rio Vista Elementary School, by car early Sunday morning.

"I went to the bank to track credit card use," Loyd's niece, Geraldine Frith, said Monday.

"We learned she was in Torrance and then at 2 a.m. was in Glendale," she said. "When she runs out of gas, I'm hoping she'll call us.

"We at least know she's fine."

Loyd, who once lived in Torrance, has gone missing twice before, Frith said.

The first time Loyd went missing, she was found in Asuza 36 hours later. The second time, she was found by Whittier police three days later.

Deputies at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station still listed her as missing by late afternoon Monday, said Lt. Tom Bryski.

Loyd is believed to be driving a gray-colored Honda CRV bearing the licence plate 4PYB089.

Anyone spotting the car or the woman is asked to call the Sheriff's Station at 255-1121.
