The Santa Clarita Public Library will be hosting a presentation by bestselling author Catherine Bybee at the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library from 7 to 8 p.m. May 23.

Bybee will be speaking about publishing, writing e-books, and her newest book, "Wife by Wednesday." Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing at the Canyon Country library at 18601 Soledad Canyon Road.

The new "Author Visit" event is part of a series of programs designed to build excitement and interest in books and reading through workshops with published writers.

The workshops are hosted by the Friends of the Santa Clarita Public Library, which is a nonprofit organization that fund raises, advocates and provides support for the Santa Clarita Public Library.

The Author Visit workshops are hosted with money raised from books and materials sold by the group's bookstores at the Canyon Country and Valencia branches.

The group has raised more than $13,000 for literary programs and activities since it was created in July 2011, and all of its proceeds go to benefit the library.

Residents interested in joining Friends of the Library can attend meetings held on the first Wednesday of the month at the Valencia Library, 23743 Valencia Boulevard, at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be June 6.
