Senior lunch menu
Available Monday through Friday at the SCV Senior Center in Newhall. Meals are also available when you call one day ahead at Bouquet Canyon Seniors, Monday through Friday, 661-513-9479, and available Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Masonic Lodge in Friendly Valley 661-299-4595.

Activities
The SCV Senior Center is located at 22900 Market St., Newhall. For a detailed monthly calendar, call the center at 661-259-9444. All the following activities will occur at the SCV Senior Center, 1 p.m., in rooms A1-A2 unless otherwise indicated.
Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m., blood-pressure checks held, Activity Room 6. Every other Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon, hearing screenings held, Supportive Services modular.
May 16: "Surviving Childhood Molestation and Incest," presented by Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Barbara Wilson.
May 23: "Maintaining Health and Vitality," presented by Roland Toledo, MPH of Facey Medical Group Patient Education Dept.
May 30: "The Importance of Good Sleep," presented Lisa Nunn, Community Service Counselor, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.

AARP Driver Safety Program
Qualifies participants 55 and over for three-year automobile insurance credit, 1-5 p.m. Friday, May 18, and 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Saturday, May 19. $12 AARP members, $14 nonmembers. Register at the center or call 661-259-9444.

Summerhill Soiree
Support the Alzheimer's Association at the second annual Summerhill Soiree with wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres, silent auction, live jazz music, complimentary valet and more, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7 at Summerhill Villa, 24431 Lyons Ave., Newhall. Free spine education program
Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital's free Spine Education Program offers valuable information on how you can take better care of your spine, including lifestyle changes that may help with pain management and prevent future injuries. Classes meet 5 to 6 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month at Henry Mayo's Ambulatory Care Center, 25751 McBean Parkway, #310, Valencia. Seating is limited. Info: 661-253-8959.

Functional Fitness
At 8:30 a.m. M-W-F, we're movin' and groovin', steppin' and sweatin' to the beat with ACE Certified Exercise Specialist Linda Bennett. We're the new and improved "middle age" 50-plus active adults.
The program encompasses functional fitness - moves are designed to simulate ADLs (activities of daily living), and sports moves like golf, tennis, and skiing. We do cardiovascular training, muscle and bone building, core stabilization and spatial awareness for balance - all within one hour.
If you're not quite ready for the fast and furious fitness, at 9:45 a.m. there is a great 30-minute chair class that will suit you. Call the Senior Center at 661-259-9444, or Linda Bennett at 661-993-3969.

Food for the Soul
Put smiles on the faces and warm the hearts of homebound seniors when you become a home-delivered meal driver. Become a part of our volunteer team to ensure that no senior goes without a meal. Help is desperately needed for as little as two and one-half hours one day a week or even one day a month (Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.). Vehicles provided.
