The College of the Canyons softball team is off this week ahead of its super regional game Friday against Southwestern College, but the honors are still rolling in for the No. 1-seeded Cougars.

Canyons infielder Ruby Herrera was named Wednesday to the 2012 CalJC National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American South team.

Herrera led the Western State Conference, Blue Division in batting average (.483) and walks (26) to help College of the Canyons to a 39-3-1 record entering the weekend.

The sophomore also led her team with 70 hits, 21 doubles and 37 RBIs this season.

The NFCA CalJC All-America Teams consist of one North team and one South team with one pitcher, four infielders, three outfields, a catcher and a utility player.
