Valencia boys tennis just completed the most dominant run through the Foothill League in Santa Clarita Valley history.

Now we’ll get to see how that translates against top flight competition.

The CIF-Southern Section released its brackets for the boys tennis postseason on Monday.

Four Foothill League teams have made the Division II playoffs, with Valencia garnering the No. 4 seed.

Valencia hosts its first-round match on Wednesday at 3 p.m. against the wild-card winner of Tuesday’s South Hills-Atascadero matchup.

The Vikings went 10-0 in the Foothill and went 177-3 in sets, with its top three singles players, J.R. Macalutas, Joey Fernicola and Chris Pope, and its top doubles team David Myers and Cameron Braun going undefeated through league play.

“We’ve had a few weeks of not seeing big games, but you’re going to a see big games in the postseason,” said Valencia head coach Annie Kellogg. “But I saw real positives at (last week) league finals. If we can play focused and relaxed at same time, we could have a good run.”

Valencia has won the last seven Foothill League titles, but has never reached a division semifinal in the postseason.

Kellogg thinks it’s a possibility if her players can play like they have all season.

Yet the competition is tough.

A potential quarterfinal match could see a rematch from last year’s postseason as Beverly Hills, the team that ended the Vikings’ 2011 season in the second round, is in Valencia’s side of the bracket.

At the top of that bracket is No. 1-seeded Palm Desert.

Foothill second place West Ranch hosts San Luis Obispo on Wednesday, also at 3 p.m.

Third-place Saugus travels to play Esperanza on Wednesday.

Fourth-place Hart travels to play Glendale in a wild-card match at 3 p.m. today.

Should the Indians win, they get top-seeded Palm Desert on Wednesday.
