A list of music industry's top drummers will join 7,600 Santa Clarita Valley sixth- and seventh-graders and 4,000 local residents as part of the world record attempt for the largest drum circle on May 18 at Cougar Stadium.

Legendary musicians Mickey Hart (Grateful Dead), John Densmore (The Doors) and Remo Belli, founder of REMO Inc., will join the thousands of students and community members as part of the Rock the Rhythm, Beat the Odds performance.

In addition, Gorden Campbell (Jessica Simpson and George Duke), Teddy Campbell ("American Idol" and The Tonight Show Band), Eric "E-Panda" Hernandez (Bruno Mars and Taio Cruz) and Mike Phillips (Janelle Monáe) will join students at Cougar Stadium at the College of the Canyons Valencia campus.

The world record attempt is the culminating event of the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center K-12 Arts Education Outreach Program's year-long music education program.

As part of the project, every sixth- and seventh-grader in the Santa Clarita Valley has received percussion-based music and rhythm instruction designed to maximize each student's creative expression, build social and emotional skills and emphasize the process of learning over performance.

The community is invited to take part in Rock the Rhythm, Beat the Odds. For details, visit www.rocktherhythm.org.
