Parking issue

When I read the article in The Signal about the Goldstein family and their parking complaint (Nov. 15) I laughed for five minutes. Then I decided to set the record straight.

I live in the Marigold community with my daughter and I too have a handicap placard and am elderly. I am a retired California Highway Patrol officer and I know that handicap placards have no jurisdiction on private streets.

My family loves me enough to allow me to park in the garage as all homes here have a two-car garage and two-car driveway parking. The Goldsteins have been a disruptive and negative element in our community for a long time, so when I read the article which contained about as much truth as claiming that Hitler was a Boy Scout leader, I knew exactly what was going on.

The truth is that after trying to convince the neighborhood that changing our CC&Rs to allow street parking went down to defeat by 78 percent and then after the recent election to appoint new board members in which Mr. Goldstein lost in a landslide, he apparently decided that revenge and retaliation were in order.

Hence a fairy tale story to discredit the brand-new board members and depict themselves as mistreated innocents.

The Signal would be an avenue for such a scheme and that would take care of those mean board members. The problem is that the majority of this neighborhood doesn't support the Goldstein/Evans clan that no longer serves on the board for good reason. The Signal staff writer should have talked to other residents here before believing the story that was presented to her.
