No charges are expected in the crash that injured a sheriff’s deputy over the weekend, a Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station official said Tuesday.

“No charges will be laid,” Sgt. Rich Cohen said Tuesday, referring to the two-car collision that injured Deputy Kirk Peterson.

An investigation into the incident has been completed, he said.

Peterson, who is expected to return to regular duty this week, has been recovering at his home since the collision, station officials said this week.

Peterson was making a left turn on a green light from southbound Auto Center Drive onto Magic Mountain Parkway when he collided with a gray Lexus driven by a 16-year-old boy, according to the station.

Peterson was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital on Saturday for treatment, which included sutures after suffering lacerations to his head, as well as a possible concussion.
