LOS ANGELES (AP) - Union strikers and immigration reform advocates are holding protests as Los Angeles prepares for a series of May Day rallies and marches.
Several dozen people are marching Tuesday for immigration reform in Van Nuys. They're equaled or outnumbered by police officers who are clearing their route and escorting them.
Meanwhile, picket signs are up at Los Angeles International Airport. Union workers there are holding a one-day strike to protest the use of private contractors for services such as cabin cleaning and baggage handling.
So far there have been no arrests or major disruptions from the demonstrations.
Both groups plan to hold larger protests at around noon.
