A Sheriff’s deputy injured in a two-car collision at a Valencia intersection Saturday is back home recovering, a spokesman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said.

“From what I understand, he’s sore, but doing well,” the spokesman said. “And now, he’s back at home.”

Deputy Kirk Peterson was making a left turn on a green light from southbound Auto Center Drive onto Magic Mountain Parkway when he collided with a grey Lexus driven by a 16-year-old boy, Lt. Bill Weiss said Saturday.

Peterson was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital for treatment after suffering lacerations to his head and a possible concussion, Weiss Said.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing.
