Club FAME, which stands for fitness, art, music and enrichment, is an after school performing arts program just a stone’s throw away from the SCVi Charter School for International Learning. It is housed next door at Higher Vision Church in Castaic.

The program provides exposure and development for children ages 5-15 in the arena of performing arts.

Included in the artistic genres offered at Club FAME are martial arts, theater, dance, painting, creative writing and music with the availability of private piano, drum and guitar lessons by prescheduled appointment.

Vanessa Rossin, the Club FAME director said each artistic genre has a particular focus for the semester and the program strives to give kids the opportunity to find their individual niche and passion.

“The idea is to find where the child’s strengths lie within the artistic realm, than develop that child in that area to the best of their ability, all while the child is having a good time,” Rossin said.

Club FAME has a partnership with several schools in the SCV area including SCVi Charter School for International Learning, Castaic Elementary School, Northlake Elementary Academy, Westcreek Academy and Mid Canyon Elementary School.

The enrichment portion of the program touches base with the academic as well as the creative sides of learning, giving students a place to do their homework.

It also offers creative writing through journaling.

Club FAME’s afterschool program has three options to choose from:

n Individual Classes:  For students interested in taking one to two classes per week or desiring to take classes on location.

n Weekly Programs:  For students interested in 2 to 3 hours per day in activities or in the homework room. Participation can also be one to five days per week everyday or on specific days.

n Club Programs:  For students interested in challenging their areas of interest and looking to strengthen skills with such things as the Performer’s Club, Art’s Club and Fitness Club.  Classes and activities are on specific days.

The program hosts showcases every 10 weeks for the students who have completed their requirements in their art forms during their session.

The next showcase will be May 9.

Kindergartners are also welcome with Club Kinders, held Monday thru Thursday from 12:15 to 3:15 p.m. with activities, such as art, signing, crafts, dance, creative learning, tumbling and martial arts.

Fridays are Fun Fridays for SCVi from 12:15 to 3:15 p.m. for activities and classes in singing, tumbling, dance and art.

Club FAME offers more than just a day care and they wanted to imply that in the name of the afterschool program Club FAME.

“We are more than a daycare center for babysitting and we wanted that implied in the name of our afterschool program,” said Rossin, “We offer a place where the kids can be exposed to different art forms, as well as learn about fitness and get some homework done.”

Instructors for the programs are all professionals experienced in their field; teaching at other studios and venues, as well as Club FAME.

Rossin herself has been dance instructor for many years and has been on both the performance and administrative sides of the business.

Today she oversees the entire afterschool program at Club F.A.M.E., at Higher Vision Church facility at 28080 Hasley Canyon Road, Suite 112, Castaic, CA 91384.
