Your local big four golf courses

You can see them from the freeway and also from surface streets, as their green expanses wind among housing tracts and trees. They are the golf courses, public and private, that are a major attraction in the SCV for insiders and outsiders. Golf is big here, and beautiful, challenging facilities await you. You can play 18 or nine, use a driving range or practice your putting, then cool off at the clubhouse. Here are the big for courses in the SCV:

Robinson Ranch
27734 Sand Canyon Road
Canyon Country, CA 91387
(661) 252-8484
www.robinsonranchgolf.com
Opened in 2000, Robinson Ranch offers two 18-hole golf courses on par with any world-class private club, yet they are open to the public. Located among more than 400 acres of unspoiled beauty, these courses can be challenging. The design scheme is rooted in the heritage of Old California. The two courses, the Mountain course and the Valley course, meander through untouched stands of the sage and chaparral, California Sycamores and Coastal Live Oaks. You'll encounter water hazards, yes, but also gorgeous waterfalls. There is also a 35-stall driving range, fully stocked pro shop, restaurant with banquet services, and a full bar and it's all open to the public (though annual memberships are available). Robinson Ranch hosts a number of large tournaments each year, including collegiate, corporate and charity.

Vista Valencia Golf Course is located near Six Flags Magic Mountain and offers a fun and challenging golf experience for players of all levels. This mid-length golf course illustrates a beautiful park setting with an island green and lakes. There is also a nine-hole, par three course, and a 28 stall, night-lit driving range.

Valencia Country Club
27330 North Tourney Road
Valencia CA 91355

Built from the vision of Robert Trent Jones, Sr., this private, 18-hole golf course plays to a par of 72 and measures 7,076 yards. The course at Valencia Country Club was named by Golf Digest as one of the top 25 golf courses in the state of California. In recent years, Valencia Country Club has hosted such tournaments as the PGA Tour's Nissan Open and AT&T Champions Classic. Additionally, the Practice Center has been recently renovated to fit PGA standards. It now offers a 40 percent larger hitting area, expanded short game area, simulated green targets, fairway bunkers and a widened corridor. There is a driving range that is 75 yards wide and member facilities include a pro shop, bar and fully operational restaurant.
The club opened in 1965 and Newhall Land's vision for it was that it would draw people to the Santa Clarita Valley to live.

TPC Valencia
26550 Heritage View Lane
Valencia, CA 91381
(661) 288-1912
www.tpcvalencia.com
Opened in 2003 as a public golf course managed by the PGA, the Tournament Players Club, TPC Valencia, transitioned to a private facility for golf, under the management of Western Golf Properties, in 2006. TPC Valencia reflects the vision and distinction associated with the TPC Network of courses. Designed by PGA Tour Design Services under consultation from two-time Major champion, Mark O'Meara, the TPC Valencia offers 18 holes of challenging, breathtaking play. This par-72 championship course stretches 7,220 yards with sweeping views of the Santa Clarita Valley and is complemented by the 32,400 square-foot clubhouse that emulates the Old California ranch-style architecture.
