Northlake Hills Elementary School second-grader Kelsey Hart recently picked up multiple honors during the Parent-Teacher Association’s Reflections art competition.
As part of the theme “Diversity Means...” Hart entered an original song complete with lyrics in the Musical Composition K-2nd grade portion of the competition. Her entry, composed for piano, and played and sung by her, was titled “Diversity Means Variety,” and was all about what diversity means in terms of different types of cookies.
The 8-year-old won the first place Award of Excellence in her age category at Northlake Hills.
She went on to win the Award of Excellence for the entire Santa Clarita Valley, as well as the 34th PTA District, which covers the local community and Antelope Valley.
It was a triple honor for Hart and her family to attend the 34th District “Reflections” Gala at the Canyon Theatre Guild on March 13 where she received a first place plaque and the “Certificate of Excellence in the Arts for Musical Composition” certificate.
