A man was injured Wednesday after a late-night shooting at a Canyon Country convenience store.

Sgt. Ron Price of the Santa Clarita Sheriff's station said that the incident occurred after two customers got into an argument inside the 7-Eleven store at 27588 Sierra Highway around 12:40 a.m.

After the altercation, a third man, who was also inside, exited the store, then shot at the first two men when they left the store a short time later. One of the men was hit in the upper torso, Price said. The victim was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries.

The gunman reportedly fled the scene and is currently being sought by detectives. He is described as a 38-year-old Hispanic male, 5'6" tall and weighing approximately 190 pounds.

The motive for the shooting is unknown. The Sheriff's department is still investigating the incident.
