COC softball earns conference title

Cougars win doubleheader

College of the Canyons softball won the Western State Conference Blue Division championship on Tuesday with two victories over Los Angeles Valley College.

In the first game, COC won 7-1.

Alicia Paiz was the winning pitcher. She is now 15-1 overall and 5-1 in conference.

Ruby Herrera hit a solo home run and scored three runs.

Jenny Wunderlich had two hits.

Kimmie Lockhart had two hits and two RBIs.

In the second game, COC won 10-0.

Lockhart went the distance in the circle and is now 19-1 overall and 10-1 in conference.

Adriana Correa hit a home run and had two RBIs.

Nikki Haslock also hit a home run with two RBIs.

Caitlyn Zimmerman and Lockhart had two RBIs. COC (34-2-1, 15-2) plays Mission College on Thursday.

COC plays El Camino on Monday in the regular season home finale at 2 p.m.
