Golden Valley High graduate Trevor Wiseman (20) is leaving the University of Hawaii's men's basketball program.

Former Golden Valley star basketball player Trevor Wiseman is leaving the University of Hawaii’s basketball program, head coach Gib Arnold announced on Friday.

A statement from Arnold hinted that the sophomore forward, who lost his starting spot midway through this past season, desired to find more playing time elsewhere.

“I hope Trevor can find a program where he can be a starter as he desires,” Arnold said. “We all wish him the best.”

Wiseman averaged 5.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game during two seasons with the Warriors, who went 34-28 during that stretch. He had been one of three Santa Clarita Valley products currently playing NCAA Division I basketball, along with former Grizzly teammate Maverick Ahanmisi (Minnesota) and Valencia High graduate Lonnie Jackson (Boston College).

In his statement, Arnold also expressed his gratitude toward Wiseman’s hustle on the court and commitment to academics. Wiseman had been part of the first recruiting class for Arnold, who spent five seasons as an assistant at USC and had strong ties to the Southern California recruiting scene.

There is no word on where Wiseman, a former Foothill League co-Player of the Year, will end up.
