Two weeks after rewriting the school record books at a prestigious track and field meet, a pair of athletes from The Master’s college accepted and invitation to another one.

Junior runners Anthony Pizzo and John Gilbertson agreed Friday to participate in this week’s Mt. San Antonio College Relays.

Last week at Stanford, Pizzo broke the TMC record in the 5,000-meter run by finishing in 14 minutes, 3.57 seconds just ahead of Gilbertson’s 14:04.68 at the same event.

Like Stanford, the Mt. SAC meet will feature professional athletes and several NCAA Division I college athletes from around the nation.

Pizzo is going to race in the 10,000, making his career debut in the event, on Thursday at 8:40 p.m.

It’s the same event TMC graduate Jeff Jackson raced in at the event last year as a senior.

Gilbertson will try to become the school’s first to finish in less than 14 minutes in the 5,000 race, which will take place on Friday at 10:15 p.m.
