The fourth annual Sweet Charity Cake Auction and Competition will be held 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 21 at Tournament Players Club in Valencia.

"This event has evolved into such a fun-filled, family event. We love that people are still so interested in seeing the creativity and supporting a good cause" said Kim Goldman, executive director of the SCV Youth Project.

With an emphasis on building a fun and creative way to promote Santa Clarita Valley companies, charities and schools, everyone is invited to design a specialty cake to promote their business, mission, logo, product or mascot.

Cakes will be put on display for viewing and bidding. The cakes will also be paired with unique gifts (trips, baskets, gift certificates, etc.).

The cake artists can claim prizes that will be awarded in several categories including originality and creativity as well as the cake that raises the most money.

The auction and judging will be held at a "cake"-tail reception, at TPC at Valencia.

"There is still time to get your tickets," said co-chairwoman Jeri Seratti Goldman of KHTS.

"For just $40, there couldn't be a better, more creative option to spend a Saturday night with or without the kids," said co-chairwoman Renee Kaehny of Rituals Colour Salon.

The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project is celebrating 12 years of providing free services to teens in the SCV.

Since the doors opened in 2000, the Youth Project has assisted more than 33,000 local families, including 28,000 youth and 5,500 adults.

In 2010-11, with services on six high schools and seven junior high campuses, the SCV Youth Project provided more than 8,000 hours of service to the young adults in the SCV with serious life challenges, including depression, suicide, grief/loss, peer pressure, bullying and drug/alcohol abuse, Goldman said.

"This is an important fundrasiser for the SCV Youth Project," Goldman said. "We appreciate the support of the community."
