Prep track and field: Hart boys earn big win

Golden Valley girls win easily

The Hart boys track and field team picked up a big victory on Thursday afternoon, edging Golden Valley 70-66 at Golden Valley High School.

The Grizzlies’ girls team also won 97-39 to stay undefeated in the Foothill League.

For the Hart boys, Austin O’Neil won the 800-meter race in 1 minute, 59.4 seconds and the 1,600 in 4:25. Tim White won the triple jump with a mark of 45 feet, 3 inches, and he also won the high jump by clearing 6 feet and the long jump at 22-2.

Cole Lambert won the 200 and 400, and Riley Stauffer won the 100.

Despite losing to Canyon to open the league season, the Hart boys jumped back into the league race by handing Golden Valley its first league dual meet loss.

For the Grizzlies, Juan David Garcia won the 3,200 in 9:30.8 and Connor Zindroski won the 110 hurdles in 15.8 seconds.

In the field, Diontre Harris won the shot put at 48-8 and Deion Webber won the discus at 145-6.

The Golden Valley girls were led by Chelsey Totten and Imani Dixon. Totten doubled to win the 800 in 2:18.3 and the 1,600 in 5:08.3, while Dixon won the 100 in 12.7 seconds and the 200 in 26.5 seconds.

For Hart, Jenny Chavez won the long jump by going 15-11 1/4 and Kylie Scott cleared 4-8 to win the high jump.

The Hart boys are now 2-1 in league, as are the Golden Valley boys. The Grizzly girls are still undefeated at 3-0, while the Hart girls dropped to 0-3.
