Young cowboys and cowgirls will be able to experience Western-themed events next week during Cowboy Week at the Santa Clarita Public Library.

The Valencia, Newhall and Canyon Country libraries will host Western story times for children ages 3 to 5 years old in anticipation of the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival April 21 and 22.

Author Janet Squire will be present at each library to give readings of her children's book, Gingerbread Cowboy, which is a Western tale about a gingerbread man who escapes the clutches of a hungry coyote.
