A party for 126 Girl Scouts was recently held in honor of the 100th birthday of Girl Scouts of America. The Girl Scouts each decorated bags and brought a donation of cake mix and frosting for a Birthday-in-a-Bag. The bags were donated to Help the Children.

Girl Scout Troop 5982 in the Santa Clarita Valley recently hosted a party in honor of the Girl Scouts 100th birthday. The party was held on March 12.

The event for younger Girl Scouts had 126 attendees.

Each girl brought a box of cake mix and frosting to fill a Birthday-in-a-Bag donation.

The girls decorated bags with colorful drawings then filled each bag with a donation plus candles and a Beanie Baby (donated by Troop 5982). The bags were donated to Help the Children.

The girls also decorated time capsules to take home. They included a letter to their future selves in their time capsules.

On display at the event was a quilt handmade by the Girl Scouts in the North River Service Unit in honor of the 100th birthday.

This was the first time the quilt was on display.

Santa Clarita Mayor Laurie Ender, a former Girl Scout, attended the event.

Ender met with the girls and talked about the generous donations of the SCV Girl Scouts.
