As skateboarding tricks go, escaping on a skateboard from a daring daylight robbery of a major electronics store seems tricky to pull.

However, that's what happened shortly before noon Monday when a young man grabbed two small cameras from the Best Buy store on Bouquet Canyon Road, shoved a security guard and escaped on skateboard, a sheriff's official said.

"It was a shoplifting gone bad," said Lt. Tom Bryski, of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. "He grabbed two small cameras and got away on the skateboard.

"It was a petty theft of shoplifting until he shoved the security guy then, because there's force, it's a robbery."

Sheriff's deputies responded to the call on Bouquet at Newhall Ranch Road and looked for the suspect with no luck.

At 2 p.m., the brazen skateboard robber was still at large.
