Spike Lee, you no longer have my support

Dear Spike Lee,

I used to be one of your biggest fans. That was until you decided to take it upon yourself to do exactly what you purport to be fighting — racism.

You did exactly what you showed in “Do the Right Thing” when at the end of the film people are blinded by their own racism and end up destroying their own neighborhood.

By releasing the phone number, despite it being incorrect, of what you thought to be Mr. Zimmerman, you showed your true colors.

As with Mel Gibson when he went on that anti-Semitic rant, I will now take all of my Spike Lee-related materials and throw them away. Justice for all as you have once said includes Mr. Zimmerman and now, the 70-year-old man, whose life you have made a horror show, due to your impulsive behavior.

Rather than apologizing via Twitter, you should take out a full-page ad in that man’s hometown and apologize.

Sadly, I thought you were a champion of civil rights. I was wrong.
