After winning every singles match she played this season, Hart girls tennis ace Anne Susdorf lost for the first time Saturday.

It took the No. 1 overall seed in the championship qualifying round of the CIF-Southern Section Individual Tennis Championships to beat the Foothill League singles champion.

In the second round of the tournament, Susdorf lost 6-1, 6-1, to Stacey Tan of Lakewood at Cate High in Carpinteria.

The Hart sophomore walked away with a playoff victory, defeating Frankie Esces of Los Padres from Santa Monica, 6-2, 6-1.

"Anne took her to several deuce games," said Hart head coach Chris Mansfield. "She played her tough."

Valencia's twin sister doubles team of Emily and Clarice Fraczek reached the round of 32.

In Arcadia, the Viking sophomores were stopped short of the round of 16. The Foothill League's doubles champs were defeated by the senior tandem of Brooke Schweyer and Alex Scotten of Palos Verdes, 6-1, 6-2. Schweyer and Scotten were both among the top four seeds.

The Fraczeks won two matches. Their second-round score was 6-1, 6-2, over Cypress' Beatrice Nguy and Karen Woo. The first-round win was 6-1, 6-0 over a team from Marshall.

"For two sophomores to get to the round of 32 in a tournament like this is great," said Valencia head coach Annie Kellogg.

At Carpinteria High, West Ranch had a singles player and a doubles team play in the tournament.
Ana Lucia Fuentes, the No. 2 seed from the Foothill League, lost 6-0, 6-0 to Ocean League champion Britnnay Morgan of Beverly Hills.

Gavelyn Poonnopatam and Lena Poonnopatam lost 6-4, 6-0.
