Once again, I find myself supporting Gov. Jerry Brown with enthusiasm. The governor’s opposition to the Hayden Law shows me how sincere this great American is about fiscal responsibility. Incidentally, fiscal responsibility is one of the cardinal principles of the tea party.
Pet owners should not expect public support for their love of animals. I say “no” to both dog parks and animal shelters. If you go on vacation, there are kennels in which you can place your pets. If you cannot afford them, then either you cannot afford a vacation or you cannot afford pet ownership.
I also find the governor’s tax initiative as the best of the three on the ballot. It is the only “regressive tax,” which the liberals hate. It is a tax on consumption, not production. It is a sales tax supported by the California Teachers Association.
As former President Richard Nixon stated in his book, “In The Arena,” we should not be placing a tax on income, because it hurts productivity.
For example, my brother stopped working because he is being taxed out of existence.
Being a Democratic governor and promoting a conservative fiscal agenda is not easy. Former President Grover Cleveland had the same challenge.
We must support the courage of this great man, and hope that he can rescue our state from bankruptcy.
