Dick and Betty Crawford of Newhall celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Feb. 28.

The couple were married Feb. 28, 1942, in Glendale at the Wee Kirk of the Heather Church.

Dick was born in Burbank, and after graduation, he started a racing business, which he still works at part-time, shaping parts for hot rod cars.

He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater for 4 1/2 years.

Betty graduated from Glendale High School and works as a volunteer at Glendale Memorial Hospital.
Dick and his father built the couple’s first house where they lived for 28 years and raised a family.

The couple moved to Friendly Valley in Newhall in 1982 where they participate in social clubs, travel clubs and lawn bowling.

They have two sons, two grandsons (one deceased) and one great-grandson.
