After years of offering a cheer program, Trinity Classical Academy sent its cheerleaders to their first-ever competition.
Varsity cheer coaches Ivette DeMarois and Jeanette Ruiz put together a competitive team with new choreography.
On March 3, the UCA West Coast Championship was held in the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk and more than 80 teams performed throughout the day.
Trinity took fifth place in its category before a crowd of Trinity parents, staff, friends and fans.
About 200 people went out to support the girls who keep school spirit high during athletic competitions and events.
Boys from the varsity football and basketball teams wore pink tank tops with Trinity letters in support of the cheerleaders.
The girls already felt like winners when the crowd cheered as they took the stage, Ruiz said.
"The girls had their cleanest, tightest routine ever and truly left it all out on the floor," DeMarois said. "I am so proud of them."
