The Master’s College men’s soccer team signed Santa Clarita Christian School senior Chad Latch on Monday.
The senior signed his National Letter of Intent to play for the Mustangs next season.
Latch was an integral part of the SCCS offense as a midfielder and was second on the Cardinals this season in goals and assists with 16 and 12, respectively.
The Cardinals advanced to the second round of the CIF-Southern Section Division VII playoffs before losing 2-1 to Academy for Academic Excellence in a match that Latch left early due to injury.
They finished the season with a 11-6-2 record.
Now, the midfielder will look to continue his strong play at the next level with TMC, which competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics in the Golden State Athletic Conference.

COC Hockey
The College of the Canyons men’s hockey team split its first two games of pool play at the American Collegiate Hockey Association National Tournament on Wednesday and Thursday.
In their first game, the Cougars lost 8-2 to Davenport.
But the Cougars bounced back Thursday, defeating Robert Morris 9-6.
Davenport leads pool A with two victories, while COC is 1-1 and faces Central Florida today for the right to advance out of pool play.

Key players return to Blue Heat
The Santa Clarita Blue Heat, a local professional women’s soccer team, announced the return of Portuguese national team captain Edite Fernandes to the squad for the 2012 season.
In addition, Ana Borges and Laura Luis also signed with the Blue Heat.
Both Borges and Luis also play for the Portuguese National team.
Fernandes was fourth in the W-League last season in goals scored, points and assists and was both an MVP finalist and a member of the All-League team.
Borges will make her Blue Heat debut, and the 22-year old is coming off a three-goal performance for Portugal in the 2012 Algarve Cup last week.
Luis played for Portugal in the UEFA European Women’s Under-19 Championship and is a sophomore at the University of Texas at Brownsville and was named the 2011 NAIA Women’s Soccer All-America team.
Luis also competed in the Algarve Cup with Borges.
The Blue Heat will open the 2012 season on May 20 against the Pali Blues at Valencia High School.
