Soccer: Blue Heat announce roster moves

Offensive star Fernandes will return for 2012 season

The Santa Clarita Blue Heat - the city's third season semi-pro women's soccer franchise - announced the return of Portuguese national team captain Edite Fernandes on Monday.

In addition, the United Soccer League W-League's Blue Heat is bringing in Portuguese national team players Ana Borges and Laura Luis.

Fernandes was fourth in the W-League last season in goals scored, points and assists and was a member of the All-League team.

Borges has made 24 appearances with the Portuguese national team.

Luis is a sophomore at the University of Texas at Brownsville and was named to the 2011 NAIA Women's Soccer All-America team.

The Blue Heat begins its third season on May 20 against Pali Blues at Valencia High.
