After almost a year in court delays Stephens will be arraigned in December and could head to trial, said Jane Robison, Los Angles County District Attorney's spokeswoman.
"The judge in the Stephens hearing found enough evidence to hold him over for trial," Robison said.
Stephens, 19, allegedly stabbed Joshua Pipho, 20, then drove over him with a car at a house party on Nov. 24, 2007. When Pipho's friend, Chad Weitz, 22, came to Pipho's aid, Stephens allegedly ran down Weitz and stabbed him 17 times. Doctors treated Weitz for a punctured lung and major blood loss.
Stephens is charged with the murder and attempted premeditated murder because he had time to think about the alleged assault.
If convicted on both counts, he could face two life sentences, a district attorney spokesperson said.
