Five Foothill League football players were named to the CalHiSports.com All-State high school football team Sunday.

Hart High senior running back Delano Howell, already honored during the postseason as the Foothill League's Most Valuable Player and The Signal's All-Santa Clarita Valley Player of the Year for his record-breaking offensive season for the Indians, was named All-State first-team multi-purpose by the Web site.
Fellow Indian senior Patrick Larimore, Hart's starting middle linebacker, was honored on the state's second-team defense.
Making the cut on the all-underclass team were Saugus junior running back Ryan Zirbel and offensive lineman Jon Bryant for second-team offense and former Valencia cornerback Marlon Pollard on second-team defense.
Howell, who ran for a Hart-record 2,249 yards and scored 29 rushing touchdowns was a fitting multi-purpose choice for his all-around contributions to the Foothill League champions.
The senior caught six touchdown passes, was the Indians' starting punter, and contributed on defense on a Hart team which reached the CIF-Southern Section Northern Division title game.
Larimore received the state honor despite missing two games with torn ligaments in his thumb and playing through a full-arm cast through three other contests for the Indians. The future UCLA Bruin had 117 tackles, three sacks and an interception for Hart.
Larimore was the Foothill League's Defensive Player of the Year. As for the Offensive Player of the Year, he's on the team, too.
Zirbel, who had a record-breaking season of his own for the Centurions, was given a spot on the underclassman team.
The 5-foot-7 junior ran for a Foothill League-best 2,281 rushing yards with 36 rushing touchdowns. In a victory over Golden Valley High Oct. 26, the runner broke the Santa Clarita Valley's single-game rushing record with 387 yards on 27 attempts.
Bryant, another junior, was a lineman for a Saugus offensive attack which dominated opponents with two 1,000-yard rushers. - Zirbel and junior quarterback Desi Rodriguez.
Pollard, who had three interceptions for Valencia's quarterfinalist team, gives the Vikings their lone representative on the all-state team, albeit somewhat of a bittersweet selection.
The UCLA commit, who started in Valencia's defensive backfield for the past two years, has transferred to Cajon High.
