West Creek Academy students and parents work on hand-made Valentine’s Day greetings for Help The Children. The PTA and students organized a food drive and made goody bags on Feb. 10 to help the local nonprofit organization’s effort to aid families in need.

West Creek Academy families recently participated in a fun-filled family service event benefiting Help the Children, Santa Clarita. The “Matters of the Heart” program, sponsored by the West Creek Academy PTA, included a food drive, assembly of Valentine goody bags and a station to make a valentine greeting for needy families of Santa Clarita.

In a letter to the school, Help The Children Director Michael Santomauro thanked the children for their support.

“Because of your partnership, we are able to provide 334 food items and 113 personal hygiene items for the families in need that don’t qualify for government assistance programs,” wrote Santomauro to West Creek families.

"Also, the cookies and Valentine’s Day cards were a much appreciated surprise for the families that we were able to share them with. Your faculty and parents should be proud of the fruits of their hard work, and the joyful contribution of the students.”
